PostScript® Level 3
PostScript® Level 3 provides compatibility with the latest design and printing applications.
The Navigator Harlequin RIP accepts PDF v.1.7, PDF/X-4, and PDF/X-1a. The Navigator Workflow will create and preflight any PDF file, performing automatic checks and fixes as directed.
The Navigator Harlequin RIP supports XPS v.1.0 Documents with PrintTickets (Document Page Ranges, Page Media Size, Page Blend Color Space, and Page Resolution).
Operating System Compatibility
Compatible with Windows® 7, the Client software is available for OS X and Windows.
Harlequin Precision Screening
Every Navigator Harlequin RIP includes Harlequin Precision Screening (HPS). HPS uses an adaptive screening technique that can adjust each halftone dot so that it is placed within one half pixel of its ideal location to reduce moiré patterning,
Separations and Screening
The Navigator Harlequin RIP allows users to control and manage resolutions, line screens (frequency), screen angles and dot shapes. From the optional Navigator Workflow Server client application, these and other Harlequin RIP features may be altered on a workflow-by-workflow or job-by-job basis.
An integrated calibration tool allows users to easily calibrate an imagesetter, platesetter, proofer or printing press.
Advanced Media Saving

The Navigator Harlequin RIP takes advantage of the latest computer hardware capabilities including hyperthreading, multi-core and multiple CPU architectures for faster processing times to further reduce production bottlenecks.
Page features allow control of Scaling, Crop Marks, Mirror Image (Reverse), Negative Image and Rotation.
One-RIP, Many Users
The Navigator Harlequin RIP features several standard and optional advanced screening technologies designed to work with a wide range of printing processes including: offset, flexography, screen, gravure, engraving and digital printing. An optional hybrid screening technology produces higher line screen at lower resolutions providing faster job throughput at higher quality.
Certified Preflight Verification
The Navigator Harlequin RIP includes the ability to confirm a PDF file is certified by checking it against preloaded Enfocus PitStop preflight profiles are included with the Harlequin RIP. With the optional Navigator Workflow Server, the PDF capabilities are further expanded with the addition of an integrated PDF Creator that takes PostScript files and automatically created PDF files. Preflighting, based on the Enfocus PitStop library streamlines operations by preflighting and certifying PDF files before output, helping to ensure the quality of final output.
Soft Proof Preview
Every Navigator Harlequin RIP includes a basic preview designed to save time and materials by previewing jobs before sending to output. With the optional Navigator Workflow Server, the preview becomes a fully featured client/server application with many additional tools.
PDF Raster Output Option
Generate electronic proofs of actual raster output for client approval.
Advanced Font Support
The Navigator Harlequin RIP features extended font format support includes PostScript Type 0 (composite), Type 1, Type 3, Type 4 and fonts, as well as native processing of Type 32 and Type 42 True Type fonts.
Ever had a rush job that was missing fonts? The Harlequin RIP includes a solution that when enabled will make a typographically acceptable match to missing fonts with no text overflow.
